Jamie Foxx, though treated poorly, expressed being thrilled to work with Quentin Tarantino. In his experience, Tarantino’s methods of working were not exactly healthy. And Foxx wasn’t used to such a kind of work culture.

As Tarantino’s retirement is coming soon with his last film – The Movie Critic, fans will remember his non-linear style of filmmaking aided by a hyperviolent screenplay.

But, it wasn’t just the screenplay that was hyperviolent while Foxx and Tarantino collaborated on the $449M western flick.

According to Foxx, Tarantino was relentless and highly intimidating on the set, and often called him out for not following the script in the desired way.

Jamie Foxx had gained a lot of professional experience working with an ace director like Quentin Tarantino. But, he could not let go of the ruthless direction that he had to face working with him.

Quentin Tarantino’s acts during the shoot of Django Unchained (2012), as recalled by Jamie Foxx on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM podcast, were no less than a seasoned tyrant.

“The first day of rehearsal I’m reading my lines and he said ‘Cut, can I talk to you for a second? Uhhh, what the f**k is that?’ – said Tarantino, as described by Foxx.

Apparently, the humiliation didn’t just stop there. Tarantino halted the shoot on the very first day to drag Foxx into his office and what happened was even uglier, as Foxx remembered.

Django Unchained explored the life of Jamie Foxx who was kept as a slave but with the help of Christoph Waltz’s Dr. King Schultz, he sets out to hunt criminals and look for his wife Broomhilda von Shaft played by Kerry Washington who is kept by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Calvin Candie.

Quentin Tarantino didn’t want Jamie Foxx to improvise his character Django. But, Foxx’s confidence infuriated the director and he lashed out verbally at him, saying, ‘Do not f*** my film up.’

Stern was shocked by Tarantino’s behavior with Foxx as he told him what he had said further –

“Listen, all of this shit – you have to be a f***ing slave! OK? He’s not cool, he’s a f***ing slave! He doesn’t know how to read. You come in with your f***ing Louis bag and your f***ing Range Rover. And you’re just… I’m so f***ing… you’re not Jim Brown! He’s a f***ing slave!… And then, and then, he becomes the hero. But lose that s***!”

The 55-year-old actor recently went through a highly secretive health scare and is recovering now. He definitely has come a long way in Hollywood, and given the circumstances, he said that he would jump at the opportunity to work with Quentin Tarantino again.

Jamie Foxx’s most recent – They Cloned Tyrone was released on June 14 and is available on Netflix for streaming.
