The terminology “hitting the ball on the screws” has been around for a long time. It originated back when brass and steel screws were inserted into the face of a wooden golf club.

The screws held the club face insert in place.

The ball traveled further when struck within the screw pattern; many golfers use that terminology today.

If you are one of those golfers that give putts within the leather, that terminology originated when all putter grips were made of leather.

Don’t forget to enjoy this great game called golf.
